I’ve been using SendStudio lately on a project for WorldHistory.com and I’ve really enjoyed it. Simple. Easy to use. Adequate tracking. It’s a decent value. They have an affiliate program set up on ShareASale.com.

Recently I’ve been using phplist (www.phplist.com) for mailinglist stuff ‘ve been doing. it’s super powerful, has tons of features, is easy to use, and best of all…it’s free!
I just put up a review of Sendstudio 2004 on my website at: http://www.autoresponder-reviews.com
You are right it is excellent software 😉

we recently switched to sendstudio nx, and i’m astounded at how badly coded it is. it overrides whatever php settings it chooses without making sure it won’t negatively affect the system – for example by setting the memory limit to 16Mb. On our site, we allocate much more than 16Mb to php, so sendstudio brings our server down every time we upgrade.
However, we won’t be upgrading again because sendstudio sets itself as the default error handler and logs *all* php and sql errors. This caused our database to grow to over 122GB (yes, gigabytes), and nearly bring our whole server down (mainly because of the almost 12 million records logged due to a ‘divide by zero’ in their code).
The software also opens potential security vulnerabilities by setting display_errors to true, again, with little respect for how the administrators have configured php.
In short, this software will do whatever it chooses to your system, and may bring down your entire site (by reducing the memory limit if you’ve set it to more than 16Mb), your entire server (when the db error log table overflows), and possibly provide attack vectors to hackers (via displaying errors).
I would *not* recommend this software.
I have notified sendstudio about some of these issues, but their failure to provide any reassurance, or even apparently to understand the issues is distressing to say the least, so i don’t expect the situation to change any time soon.
